Project Concept
An award winning project, with transformation from a single-storey to a two-and-a-half-storey intermediate linked house, reflecting the power of minimalist design in maximising spatial utility. The architecture preserves the neighbourhood’s aesthetic by extruding the existing structure to double its height, adhering to the local skyline.
A captivating metamorphosis of a once typical double-storey intermediate terrace house into a three-storey marvel. The name “Monster Cave” holds a special charm, coined by the owner who endearingly refers to his lovely wife as the “little monster.” This redesign embodies creativity and innovation, where architecture meets imagination and love resides in every corner.
To resonate with the name, the skylights were designed in a pocket manner, strategically placed openings mimic the enchanting light slots found in caves, allowing rays of light to cascade into the heart of the living space.
At the heart of the living space lies the central courtyard, a distinctive feature of Monster Cave. Here, the focal point is the captivating design of the floating concrete staircase, complemented by a subtle water feature with soothing sound of flowing water. Simultaneously, bask in the enchanting play of light reminiscent of cave rays, casting a unique and mesmerising aura onto the bricks feature wall with a Leopard Tree planted in front. The combination of innovative design elements transforms this space into a sanctuary, inviting you to experience a harmonious blend of architecture and nature.
